my kind of brand

Again, I am still struggling with the branding excersise that we are to take part in. I'm just not getting it. As with Emily I'm finding it hard to think out of the literal box and put branding as a type of personality check. Even more so I'm finding it difficult to think of a presentation that sums me up. I was hoping to use lyrics throughout my talk but I'm not sure how to go about that so any suggestions are welcome.
Meanwhile, I've been branded six times, all by different tattooists making their mark on my body.

What's in your jewellery box?

What's in your jewellery box is study that I'm hoping to look in to during my course. I want to encourage people to look into their jewellery box and tell me what things mean to them and what memories the pieces of jewellery hold. This is a picture of my jewellery box, most of it is filled with crap but most of it I can tell you a little story behind it. Little "memory triggers" held in a few special pieces.
What I want to do is to hand out a camera and a note book and just to go through a few pieces of their jewellery and see if they can remember a story that goes with it.
For instance...In my jewellery box is a ring with the very first stone that I set. I can remember the day that I did it even though it was over three years ago, I can remember Lisa sitting next me and we were both moaning at how awful we were at setting stones.
I want to challenge peoples memory and see if they can recall a little story to go along with their jewels.

heartbeat

I found an interactive designer: Emily Conrad and she designed the SMS lamp, which is a lamp (fabricated from ikea) that sends a vibration to the lamp when a loved one is coming home, the light pulsates and gets quicker the closer they are to the house. And by touching the lamp the lamp can then send a message back to the loved one.
The lamp is entitled "Heartbeat."

Help

I'm really struggling with the latest assignment that we have been given by Tom Inns. I'm finding it really difficult to delve into myself and express that to other people. It's not something that I willingly do so I am deffinitely out of my comfort zone and I feel as if i'm opening myself up to severe critisism!
I'm trying to find a way to share my personality but keep it close to my chest too, it's just not working. We shall just have to wait and see what happens on the day!

Jayne Wallace

I have just come accross Jayne Wallace, and oh what a find. She is an inspiration and I just realised that I missed a lecture she gave earlier on this year because of my stupid job!! Hopefully i'm going to try and retrieve some information on it to try and make up for missing that great opportunity! Everything that she has researched so far is what I'm wanting to research, obviously with my own slant on it. But the way that she brought digital technology into jewellery is revoulutionary. Here is an example of her work. This is a piece that was inspired by a mother/ daughter relationship and the bond that they share. It is a piece that is worn by both and when one is touched it sends an subtle impulse to other, I guess to show that they are always there for each other. Just Brilliant is what I say!!!

Body Adornments

In my final year as an undergraduate my dissertation subject was all about body modifications. By doing this topic I was constantly being faced with things that shocked me and things that I found beautiful. A few days ago I came across this image and it's a development of body adornments. Here is jewellery that you can hang from your eye. I'd like to know what you think of this image and this design. I personally think it's beautiful, however beauty is in the eye of the beholder(no pun intended).

New weekly image

I have submitted my images of the past two weeks, the first is the mind map. This basically shows how that week all I could think about was mind maps, I had mind maps coming out of my ears. However my mind maps have not been too successful so I bought the Tony Buzan mind map book. This mind map shown is explaining how I am still questioning everything so I thought the best way to describe it would be a mind map.
The next image is something I can't talk much about, but it is an exciting new project that I may be involved in and this week I have been spending time trying to get some information together for that. This is y image depicting that.
